Tsang Sui Kung (Stone) back in form with 50km Green Power win
Tsang Sui Kung (Stone), member of the Champion System Adventure Team, took home a commanding victory this Saturday in Green Power, one of Hong Kong’s biggest trail running events. Over 3,000 runners took part in this year’s race which is in its 18th year and covers the 50km Hong Kong Trail, starting at the Peak and ending in Big Wave Bay.
Stone was neck and neck with last years champion until the 30 km mark but then pulled away on a long downhill and never looked back, winning by 10 minutes in 3 hours 41 minutes.
It was a great victory for Stone who has missed most of the winter season’s races thus far with a hamstring injury. “I am back!....I am so happy to race again and be able to run comfortably, commented Stone. “Lucky my injury recovered fast with some rest and needling treatment from my physio,” Stone continued. “Today my strategy was to just keep it steady….I really was not sure of how far and fast I could go.”
Congratulations, also, to Angela Lai who completed the Green Power 50k in 6hrs 35mins. Angela's comment: ".....and the most important is I found that I am stronger than before, although I was really tired in the last 15k I can still able to run." Angela ran the race as part of her preparations for the SCM.
