Results - May-November 2010
May 28 - recent PBs include Daniel Yeung's FM of 3:17 last weekend and Wynnie Fung in the 5k. Jacqueline Rohrbach (PB 3:28) ran 3:29 in the Boston Marathon on a skeleton training programme. Chow Pui Yan (3:20) was on pace for a 3:15 at 30k in Rotterdam when she was tripped. Next time! :)
A number of SportPlus-coached athletes - Chow Pui Yan, Wynnie Fung, Pauline Tse, Johnny Mok and Wong Ka Wai - showed the value of training during the summer months by recording top-three placings in various local duathlon, sprint triathlon and running races in July and August.
Congratulations also to Marcello Giamporcaro and Ivan Wong who completed their first sprint triathlons on 1 August.
More good results in August:
- Wong Ka Wai won the Half Marathon in World Fire Fighter Games in South Korea.
- Stone Tsang started the North Face UltraTrail de Mont Blanc 166k in France but the race was stopped after three hours due to bad weather including snow, rain, land and sub-zero temperatures slides at 2500m. A 90k race was organised the next day over the first part of the 166k course and also included competitors from a separate 111k race. Stone finished in 11 hours 55 mins in 21st place, just 1 min 25 seconds out of the top 20. His comments: "....During the race, I really felt good and steady, a feeling I've never have. Even when I crossed the finish line, I'm didn't feel very tired. It showed me that I may have the ability to finish UTMB well." Stone was unable to finish the UTMB 166k the previous year.
Congratulations to Wynnie Fung and Pauline Tse on their performances in the four-race AVOHK-Adidas 5k series held in August and September in different locations in Hong Kong: Wynnie finished as Champion for the series in her category while Pauline finished 1st runner-up in her category. See photo.
Stone Tang won the Salomon Lantau Two Peaks 21k trail race on 10 October in a time of 2 hours 32 mins. The second-place finisher was three minutes behind. Stone finished second in the race the previous two years. On the same day, Chow Pui Yan finished second in her age-group (4th overall) in 43:36 in the New Balance 10k in Tai Mei Tuk.
16 October - Stone took second position in MOONTREKKER. The race had 700 participants this year. Stone's teammate, Ryan Blair broke the course record by 21 minutes in 4:09 with Stone just 2 minutes back at 4:11. A good result of Stone after completing a hard interval workout in Shatin on Wednesday evening.
18 October - Christophe Lee ran 43.13 in the NB 10k and later ran 41.20 in the ASCICS 10k on 14 November
31 October - Wynnie Fung ran a track PB of 20:19 for the 5k in Wanchai
7 November - Chow Pui Yan won the New Balance 15k in a time of 1:06:29; Kawai ran 1hr 19 in the FILA HM, slowing down from 15k to protect his heel.
24 November - Stone Tsang won the AA 21km trail running race in a time of 1hr 44 min, breaking the race record by 20 mins. Second place was 9 min behind.
Agnes Chan ran 4:13.04 in the Lake Kawagichi Nikkon Sport Marathon in Japan on 28 November. Previous PB: 4:58
Congratutions to Christophe (1:29.35) and Chow Pui Yan (1:30.46, 2nd in age-group, 7th woman overall) on their PBs in the UNICEF Halkf Marathon on 28 November
