Standard Chartered Marathon February 8 2009
Congratulations to the SportPlus-supported runners who competed in a Standard Chartered race on Sunday, 8 February. Whether you ran a PB or not, we are proud of you!
Pauline Tse finished second in her category in the full marathon. Pauline's time was her third PB since joining us in August 2007. Her progression: 4:08-->3:41-->3:36 and now 3:29! (see top-left picture).
Overall, some very good results with a total of 15 SportPlus-supported runners competing in the 10k, HM or FM:
Chris Marshall
HM (First time)
2:30
Our SportPlus Marathon Challenge also produced excellent results at the end of the six-month programme. Remember that none of the eight participants had competed in a competitive race before beginning the Challenge in October. Six of the eight completed the UNICEF HM in November. Of the six, five plus Pete Buffon ran the FM on Sunday. Four finished. Congratulations to all four!
Of the two non-starters, one was sick and one dropped out of the programme in January with an injury (but had completed the UNICEF HM). Pete Buffon, an airline pilot with Dragon Air, competed even though he had been sick the previous week - and had never run a HM!
Some of our runners have set their next goals and will embark on new programmes very soon. We look forward to working with them in the future!
